Curriculum Overview
  • Breakfast-Order forms are sent home at the beginning of the year and need to be sent back as soon as possible, 8:35-8:50 ONLY, no charges, students arriving past 8:40 will not be served breakfast
  • SpellingFUNdations, focuses on concepts of spelling rather than memorization, ONLY trick words need to be memorized since they don’t fit in a concept

  • Language ArtsThe Benchmark Literacy program consists of 30 weeks of explicit comprehension-focused lessons for the whole class, small groups, and intervention. Assessment-driven instruction that is differentiated and includes responding to text. The program also offers gradual release and built-in choice that support student progress and teacher creativity. Included in the program, we have precisely leveled texts for a full range of students, including ESL and striving readers. Small group work will allow students to work on their own specific guided reading level with students alike. Leveled Reader's Theater and diverse genres will engage students and extend learning.

  • Recess- 15 minutes outside, jackets needed with cold weather

  • Lunch- Please send lunch money in an envelope with child’s name, find menu on website

  • Writing- Writer’s Workshop(Benchmark Literacy Curriculum), daily independent journal during centers, writing process, modeling, mentor texts, use rubrics to grade, paragraphs, Personal Narrative, Procedural, Non-Fiction, Letters, other stories

  • MathGo Math, We will now be using the Go Math curriculum to meet the Common Core Standards, we will work in large & small groups, completed review page sent home day before tests, Rocket Math. The students’ login information will be sent home so they can play Go Math games at home.
